Full Moon

I love the energy of the full moon. It is a time when energy is heightened and clarity is buzzing through the air. To look up and see the magnitude of her beauty, and realize how small we actually are, helps keep life in perspective. It is a time that I reflect on the path I am on, and try to make any course corrections that are needed.

The family usually gets involved as well, at least to the degree that they would like to. We each take a piece of paper and write down all of the things we would like to release at the time. This may be an emotion, a habit, a thought pattern, or any other aspect of our life that doesn't feel quite right. There is power in writing something down, especially those things you may not want to admit you are struggling with. Some months we fill a whole paper, other times we write nothing. It just depends on where we each are at the time. We each do this privately, so no one else reads what another person wrote down. We then fold up our paper and take turns burning them. This helps in the process of letting go and understanding that the universe has your back, if you trust it. It's also the kids favorite part! I know, that when we release these things and burn our papers, we are symbolically moving forward as well as spiritually clearing out unwanted energy.

It's a beautiful thing for our family. We definitely also spend time outside looking at the moon and basking in the positive energy. On nice nights we may listen to music and just hang out together in the backyard, just trying to find magic in the ordinary.
